Otava Publishing Company has been a publisher of literature in Finnish since 1890. Its main areas are general-interest literature and teaching materials. Otava publishes over 600 new titles by Finnish and foreign authors annually: fiction, non-fiction, books for children and young people, textbooks and multimedia. The company’s editorial offices are on Uudenmaankatu in the heart of Helsinki.

Parent company is Otava Books and Magazines Group Ltd and other subsidiaries are Like Kustannus Oy (Like Publishing Ltd.), Otavan Kirjapaino Oy (Otava Book Printing Ltd.), Yhtyneet Kuvalehdet Oy (United Magazines Ltd.), and Suuri Suomalainen Kirjakerho Oy (The Great Finnish Book Club Ltd.), the last two being market leaders in their own fields.
